Akira Kurosawa Memorial Short Film Competition will be the 4th time in 2008.

We have received many great masterpieces from all over the world including Japan, and the number is growing each year. And we appreciate the 565 applications for Short Film Competition 2007.

The purpose of this competition is to gather the expression to improve the new horizons of genre of films, to give way to the emergence of new expressive artist, and to play a part of the role to offer the talent to the world. Furthermore, it aims the gathering of the unknown talent, and many various and colorful works.

Film. It is a mode of expression that goes beyond race, as well as history and folkways indigenous to individual cultures. It has the power to be an intense and compelling universal language. It is a media of expression and the latest composite art form that history has invented.

We look forward to receiving, regardless of the filmmaker’s career or age, numerous new titles from around the world with the power to surpass existing values and contexts.
