Whether it be a sequence of predestined chain of events or a labyrinth of coincidences, using this underlying motif of life in the modern world, Akira Kurosawa Memorial Short Film Competition pursues innovative ways of adding new dimensions to the art of filmmaking, encourages new expressionists to step into the light, and launches these fresh talents to the rest of the world. This Competition seeks to become a platform for yet-to-be-discovered talents to come together from around the world, showcasing their broad and wide diversity of works and gifts. This Competition and has been held annually since its first event in 2005.
