Aug 1998 Agreement signed between the City of Imari and Kurosawa Production to begin construction of the Akira Kurosawa Memorial Museum Apr 1999 Establish the Akira Kurosawa Foundation under the authorization of the Governor of Saga to exclusively administer the construction and operation of the Akira Kurosawa Memorial Complex. Jul 1999 Open the Akira Kurosawa Memorial Satellite Studio in the commerce district of the City of Imari as the provisional headquarters of the Akira Kurosawa Memorial Museum. Currently displaying preset and programmed exhibitions as part of the Foundation’s effort to HONOR works of film. Dec 2003 Officially disclose the overview of the facility and its fundamental plans for the Akira Kurosawa Memorial Museum. Initiate preparations for the Akira Kurosawa Memorial Short Film Competition to realize the Foundation’s efforts to DEVELOP and SUPPORT young talents in the field of film work.
